Okay! My apologies to the once upon a time regular readers of my blog. I must have lost most of them for having stayed away from my usual blogging on domestic and world events. Some may have thought, that 2017 consumed me. Sorry! I am alive and well.
2017, a year of chaos and disruption. A lot of it created by world leaders. The Super-Villain prize was snatched by a leader of a very tiny Nation called North Korea, threatening the super most power in the world with his not so tiny missiles. While the US began to show itself as a real life "Westworld" thanks to its love for the ownership and use of guns; there was talk of a full blown WWIII, thanks to the other military super powers wagging their own sabers. Mr. Trump tried his best to be in the news, but the news from all around the globe was much too compelling to ignore, and POTUS a bit too predictable if not tamer than before he occupied the White House. My own knowledge front has improved drastically, with names of several personalities who I would never have bothered knowing otherwise.
On the domestic front too, a lot of unknowns tried to get their two seconds of fame by shooting gas from their mouth. Well, let's just say everyone cannot get away by emulating the great Trump. Shock therapy, just does not work. However, our own Prime Minister got a shock of his life, when his home state voted in a significant minority opposition. It's the people's way of "speaking" out that he has just one more year to deliver on the promised "good days", or 2019 may not be such a happy year for his party.
The only "thing" which is not even a thing, that has enjoyed unprecedented success in 2017 is "Bitcoin", the cryptocurrency. Will it turn into Kryptonite for all the regulated currencies? My sense is - yes - eventually, once it is completely in the hands of the people who shouldn't be controlling it in the first place.
But you know all this. What you did not know is that I turned a full fledged author this year, with the release of my anthology "Coffee Shorts". I thought of playing Nero and writing stories while the world was burning. I wasn't interested in writing about doomsday, nor brooding over events that I had no control over. So I did what I could have some control over, and wrote a book. Now you also know why I have stayed away from blogging.
The best news of all is we survived 2017, and despite everything, it looks like there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon. A turnaround of sorts - not good prevailing over evil or whatever, but mankind refusing to sit back and watch everything fall apart. It has started with vocalizing and making itself heard. My money is on 2018 being the year of hope. I haven't been wrong so far...
I will try and blog in 2018, but I certainly do promise to write more stories. You may want to log on to Amazon.com and buy Coffee Shorts. Trust me, it's an enjoyable read.
